Real time metabolic monitoring for time resolved analysis of the cellular drug response

Biological activity of potential drug candidates leads to complex drug responses in cells including both immediate as well as delayed effects. It is shown how the continuous monitoring of metabolic changes, namely glycolysis and respiration, as well as cell adhesion and cell-cell interaction can beneficially be used to overcome the restrictions of endpoint assays when analyzing dynamic cellular events. The biological activity of possible anti-cancer drugs and a wide range of other compounds will be studied in real time with the Bionas biosensor chip system.
